Google Analytics 4: Real-Time Report Features
Now that Google Analytics 4 is out of open beta and is the recommended implementation, I’ll be covering a few blog posts on Google Analytics 4. In this particular blog post, I’ll cover the GA4 Real-Time report features.
Key features of Google Analytics 4 Real - Time report:
Custom segment comparisons to view side-by-side real-time performance across
A much better visual interface that covers a lot of aspects within the real-time report
User snapshot to view a chronological timeline of events for a random user
In Google Analytics 4, you can setup completely custom audiences for comparison in real-time report
In the above example, I compared three segments side-by-side. Users from US/ UK / Ukraine. Post setup, this distributes the real time report metrics across the audiences. Up to 5 audiences can be compared side-by-side. This feature is a much more convenient option compared to Universal Analytics real-time report where you would want to keep adding filters in the real-time report to view performance + no side-by-side comparisons are available in Universal Analytics real-time report.
Random user snapshot: This option follows the entire user journey for a particular user and reports back on all events that occurred [for that particular user]
There are lots of things to cover in Google Analytics 4. I will be tackling them one-by-one. Other Google Analytics 4 blog posts covered [when it was in open beta]:
Custom Parameter tracking and conversion setup in Google Analytics 4
Scroll tracking setup in Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager
Why user counts won’t match between Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4
